What 3 mm gives you

A short, even coat with a soft velvet feel. This is the length people pick for summer, for the belly and the back end, and for a coat that has started to mat underneath. One pass and the coat is reset.

Pick this one if

• The dog gets hot on warm walks
• The belly and back end need to stay clean and tidy
• The coat mats fast, and a short cut buys you weeks of easy brushing
• The coat is curly or dense, so comb attachments stall in it

It is short, so go gently over hips, elbows and anywhere bone sits close to the skin. Ask a groomer first if the dog is double coated.

Fitting it takes seconds

Switch the clipper off. Lift the old blade away, seat the 3 mm blade on the head and press until it sits straight. Add a drop of oil along the teeth, run it for a few seconds, then wipe the rest off.

The comb attachments that came with your clipper only fit the 1.5 mm blade. They do not go on the longer blades. Blade oil is sold separately: see Clipper Oil. Fits the Dog Clipper Pro.
